Purpose of Position:

  • Under the direction of the VP of Operations, Research and Development, the Engineer will assist with the development of Tides Medical products.
  • The Engineer will provide support in research, developments, and assessments of assigned projects. 


Essential Functions of the Areas of Responsibility:

  • Lead and contribute to R&D projects in the creation, development, and evaluation of Tides Medical prototypes and products
  • Independently and collaboratively develop experiments to support R&D project work
  • Perform assays to evaluate: handling characteristics, cellularization and vascularization of our prototypes and tissues
  • Make recommendations and set new directions for the project based on data, experimental results, and feedback 
  • Routinely report and present hypothesis driven experimental results, data, and plans to other team members individually and at group meetings
  • Routinely maintain critical materials and reagents needed to complete assigned experiments
  • Record experimental details and findings in individual and collaborative electronic notebook entries, updated at minimum on a weekly basis
  • Establish and maintain an understanding of current and emerging technology in applicable and related areas.
  • Access and utilize primarily patents, but also information gathered at conferences and the open literature to support and develop experimental plans
  • Use appropriate statistical analysis to interpret data
  • Routinely meet 1:1 with manager to review results and progress
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Key Qualifications, Requirements, and Attributes:

  • BS in biology, engineering, chemistry, cell biology or related field 
  • 2+ years of research experience
  • Experience with processing of human tissue and cells


Preferred Qualifications:

  •  Experience with Histology and wound healing of skin
  •  Experience in tissue engineering towards product development
  •  Experience with Aseptic Technique and mammalian cell culture, and vascular cell culture
  •  Knowledge of cell, extracellular, and biomaterials interaction
  •  Processing experience with instruments such as cryomills and lyophilizers
  •  Track record of success (products and/or publications) in tissue engineering, cellularization of scaffolds design for tissue engineering applications
  •  Strong written and verbal scientific communication/presentation skills
  •  Understanding of tissue engineering concepts and current field
  • Experience with MS Teams, MS Excel, MS Powerpoint, MS Word, Prism GraphPad, Electronic notebooks


Physical, Mental, Environmental Demands:

  • Lifting 25 pounds
  • Standing for 6 hours at a time
  • Using a computer for 8 hours at a time
