Position Summary:

  • Under the direct supervision of the Chief Operating Officer (COO), the Marketing Director will be responsible for planning, development and implementation of all of the Organization’s marketing strategies (vision), marketing communications, and public relations activities, both external and internal.
  • Oversee development and implementation of support materials in the area of marketing, communications and public relations.
  • Direct the efforts of the marketing and communications of Goodwill Industries of Acadiana to others within the organization.
  • The Director of Communications & Marketing will provide supervision to Marketing Specialist


Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Responsible for creating, implementing and measuring the success of:
    • A comprehensive marketing plan that will enhance the Organization’s image and position within the community and facilitate internal and external communications
    • A communications and public relations program that will further develop the community’s understanding of Goodwill Industries of Acadiana’s mission.
    • All organization marketing, communications and public relations activities and materials including publications, media relations, store events and so forth.
  • Ensure articulation of Organization’s desired image and position, assure consistent communication of image and position throughout the Organization, and assure communication of image and position in all media formats.
  • Responsible for editorial direction, design, production and distribution of all Organization publications.
  • Coordinate and implement social media marketing communication. 5.Administer online marketing initiatives, maintain website and make enhancements to maximize its use.
  • Coordinate media interest in the Organization and ensure regular contact with target media and appropriate response to media requests, keeping the COO & President informed
  • May act as the Organization’s representative with the media. 8.Coordinate the appearance of all Organization print and electronic materials such as letterhead, use of logo, brochures, etc.
  • Provide counsel to other team members on marketing, communications and public relations
  • Conduct relevant market research and monitor trends
  • Leads projects as assigned, such as cause-related marketing and special events
  • Cultivate individual and corporate donors for fundraising (friendraising) events
  • Responsible for Agency Branding/Signage
  • Negotiate, purchase and monitor advertising space in print, outdoor, broadcast, and online outlets, such as billboards, radio stations, television stations, and websites
  • Responsible for outlining the marketing/communications/public relations mission, goals and financial objectives
  • Ensure that evaluation systems are in place related to these goals and objectives and report progress to the President/COO/Board of Directors
  • Recommend short and long term organization goals/objectives to the President &COO
  • Develop, implement and monitor systems and procedures necessary to the smooth operation of the marketing/communications/public relations function
  • Keep informed of developments in the fields of marketing, communications and public relations, not-for-profit management and use this information to help the Organization operate with initiative and innovation
  • Supervise Marketing personnel
  • All other duties as assigned


Qualifications:

Qualification Requirements:

Education and/or Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in marketing, communications or public relations with demonstrated success, preferably in the not-for-profit or association sector
  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, marketing, public relations preferred. 
  • Graduate degree in a related field is desirable
  • Working knowledge of using programs such as, Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, etc.

  • Ability to demonstrate strong critical thinking & analytical skills in budgeting, financial and other data analysis, reporting, and utilizing of data for decision making and achievement of strategic goals
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of all information
  • Advanced proficiency with MS Office, Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook
  • Must have access to personal transportation for use to conduct approved Goodwill business
  • Must be able to pass MVR checks and provide proof of a valid Driver’s license and personal auto insurance
