Education Sessions for Manufacturers: Identify Markets and Develop a Brand and Strategy

 


Lafayette Economic Development Authority (LEDA) and the University of Louisiana at Lafayette's College of Engineering have partnered to host a series of meetings to benefit all local manufacturing professionals.

Professionals will learn new concepts, exchange ideas, and address challenges in sessions designed to improve their business and enhance the Acadiana region— a hub of energy, aerospace, jewelry, biomedical and other sectors. The objective is to provide manufacturers in Acadiana an opportunity to hone their competitive advantages by attending education sessions.

The sessions will occur quarterly from  8:00 a.m. to  9:30 a.m. The first session is scheduled on Wednesday, December 12. In 2019, sessions are scheduled on Tuesday, January 22; Tuesday, April 23; Tuesday, July 23; and Tuesday, October 22.

Speakers and topics will be presented by professionals from UL Lafayette or manufacturing industry; or concepts from SME.

December 12, 2018: Topic and Agenda

Topic: How to Identify Relevant Markets & How to Develop a Brand and Market Strategy.

Presenter: Dr. Geoff Stewart, UL Lafayette

Agenda:

  • SWOT analysis: Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats
    • Focus on the company’s skillsets and transferrable skills related to SWOT – this will help them to identify their core values, strengths and new markets
  • STP: Segmentation, Targeting and Positioning
    • Focus on the creation of a marketing model for the company based on the characteristics of industry sectors, customers, and market segments; then evaluate and select segments; then develop marketing mix for each segment
  • Sales: How to approach the customers
    • Introduction to this topic. Sales and Business Development will be scheduled on Tuesday, January 22, 2019: The Difference Between Sales and Business Development & How to Develop a Strategy for Both.
