Business Retention & Expansion

The Lafayette Economic Development Authority's (LEDA) primary focus is to facilitate existing business retention and expansion within Lafayette Parish. LEDA's Business Retention and Expansion department works to develop strong relationships with existing local businesses, while addressing urgent business issues swiftly so companies remain competitive and profitable in the marketplace and in our community.

LEDA Networking Luncheon

On the first Wednesday of each month, Mark Mouton hosts the LEDA Networking Luncheon. The event provides business professionals an inexpensive way to market their business and network with more than a hundred individuals each month, all for the cost of a buffet lunch ($15). This venue is ideal for small businesses, start-up companies, people who want to grow their business and business professionals who are new to the community.

Each month, several guest speakers from local businesses give a brief presentation to promote their products, services or event. Everyone has the opportunity to stand up to introduce themselves and their business during "roaming mic". Attendees are welcome to donate door prizes.

Business Retention & Expansion Visitation Program

In 2000, LEDA began the Business Retention and Expansion (BR&E) Visitation Program to encourage the growth of local businesses and improve the business climate in Lafayette Parish. The program promotes job growth and expansion by helping the community identify concerns and barriers to survival and growth for local businesses. For more information about the program's objectives click here.

Studies show up to eighty percent of all new jobs are created by existing firms rather than by attracting new businesses to communities. Our existing businesses are what keep Lafayette's economy strong and stable. LEDA is eager to develop relationships with businesses from all sectors, of all sizes, both old and new. LEDA's Director of Business Retention and Expansion, Mark Mouton, can assist in identifying incentives and tax abatement opportunities for your company.

If you would like to set up a meeting to learn more about how LEDA can work for your business, email Mark Mouton or call (337) 593-1409.
