Please keep in touch and let us know how LEDA can Work for You!

Property Marketing

LEDA provides information on available properties in the area. We enable clients to browse our commercial properties for their expansion or new business venture. The Louisiana Site Selection database is populated with properties presented by you, the commercial real estate agent.

This system allows for departments within our organization to respond to our clients' requests in a timely manner, and assist you in marketing your listing.

If you have any questions regarding the marketing and use of Louisiana Site Selection or if you would like to speak further regarding the process in which we promote available sites in Lafayette Parish, please feel free to contact David Colligan, Director of Business Development, via email or directly at (337) 593-1415.

Status Report for Property Submissions

We work closely with commercial real estate agents and developers from the Acadiana Region to be able to provide information on sites that might meet the location requirements of clients that come to LEDA. Once the specifications for a site are communicated to LEDA, we research potential locations and communicate the needs to our commercial contacts. Our team assists in packaging all sites that are submitted along with any other information that is requested. We continue to build the relationship with the client and promote Lafayette as a location for the project. If you have submitted any sites during this match-making process, this is where you can look for a monthly update on the status of each request.

What's Happening Now

Temporary Sites: Preparing for Emergency Response

In preparation to provide quick response to emergency crews or local businesses that may be temporarily displaced during hurricane season, LEDA is working with Economic Development agencies and contacts along the Gulf Coast.  We are currently updating our list of temporary lease spaces and will be sharing real estate information with other communities across the state in the event of an emergency.  The focus of this alliance is to temporarily accommodate any of the businesses that may be affected by a storm in any of our areas.

Please contact David Colligan via email or directly at (337) 593-1415, if you or your property owner is willing to lease on a 3, 6, or 12 month basis.  Also, please be sure to let us know if you have a large amount of space available for parking any emergency response vehicles for a temporary period of time.

Your Site Meets Their Vision: Annual Seminar

We would like to thank everyone who joined us for the annual seminar on September 28, 2011. This is our annual orientation in which several departments from LEDA provide a closer look at our processes and procedures for interacting with our clients and helping to expedite our services for development requests. We also took time to review some of the most recent developments in the Lafayette economy, the resulting changes in the real estate market, some of the newest programs being offered to close the gaps on major deals and how Economic Developers can assist with any project or client.

Presentations during the 2011 seminar included:

Successful Projects by Gregg Gothreaux, President and CEO of LEDA

Business Development by David Colligan, Director of Business Development

Business Development Programs by Mark Mouton, Director of Retention and Expansion

Tools & Resources by Anne Falgout, Director of Information Services

Ready for the Big Screen? How to Get Your Sites Before Film Scouts

Louisiana is currently ranked 3rd in the nation for the highest number of film and media projects that are being produced in today's entertainment industry. As a State, Louisiana offers some of the strongest financing and technological incentives for these projects and as a region, Acadiana has the ability to boast many beautiful and historical locations, they are also seeking a safe and friendly location that could be "Anywhere, America."

Our area is filled with interesting and diverse properties that are primed for the Big Screen. Maybe you are working with a warehouse space that would make a great setting for a horror film, a redeveloped office space that offers a modern or edgy ambiance, or maybe even a retail space in a quaint downtown setting that could be scouted for just about any scene. If you are looking to get your site in front of the creative minds that scout locations around the world for various entertainment projects, the Lafayette Entertainment Initiative (LEI) is your next stop!

Lafayette Entertainment Initiative (LEI) receives and responds to location requests for the entertainment industry, using the same methods as LEDA for other industries, when trying to promote Lafayette and the Acadiana Region for prospective projects. LEI representatives will help to gather information regarding your location and will then post your site into the new Acadiana version of Reel-Scout. Once entered, location Scouts will be able to search and review sites that are applicable to their project and LEI will also have the ability to promptly include your site as a possible location when packaging their response to requests from industry. For more information, be sure to visit the Movies section of the new LEI website at www.lafayetteentertainment.org.

Is your location Film Friendly?

During our last session of Your Site meets Their Vision, several representatives from the film industry spoke about the process for identifying locations during pre-production. The group of speakers also provided great insight into the best methods for assisting your clients with negotiations while being mindful of a project's budget, structure and fast-paced time line. The "magic of Hollywood" was clearly described as a seamless process with a great amount of business opportunity.

In an attempt to help you and your clients make a direct connection with the scouts of "Hollywood South," the Lafayette Entertainment Initiative (LEI) is now providing FILM FRIENDLY signs that can be attached to any property marketing piece. This concept comes straight from Tinseltown itself, where one of our LEI team-members noticed that available properties were being marketed for long-term lease agreements while also being marketed for short-term film related projects.

What does it mean to be FILM FRIENDLY? Well, it's as simple as asking your client one extra question, "Would you be willing to allow a short-term film project to locate in your facility?" It is then a matter of helping your client to understand the process of film productions and how they operate in locations ranging from industrial facilities to office space, to operating businesses and everything in-between. We helped to provide you with more insight during this session but our team would be glad to answer any questions you or your client may have regarding film production.

To request FILM FRIENDLY signs or to find out more information about the services available for assisting film projects, please contact Julie Bordelon of LEI at (337) 291-3456.
