In this role, a Chemical Lab Technician conducts analytical lab-based testing on a variety of chemicals and materials.
The Technician collects samples and conducts testing for the purpose of assuring quality assurance, safety, regulatory and environmental compliance.
Technicians are responsible for monitoring chemical processes and the testing of products as part of quality assurance.
Under the supervision of the Quality Manager, Chemical Engineering or Chemists, Technicians perform lab activities, such as maintaining lab equipment, preparing chemical solutions, conducting tests, interpreting, and analyzing data, compiling, and reporting results.
Job Responsibilities
Promote and maintain a clean and safe lab environment; apply 5S methodologies
Proficiently operate lab test equipment and devices ranging from pH Meters, Conductivity Meters, Moisture Balances, Viscometers, Contact Angle Meters, Spectrophotometers, Centrifuges, Microscopes, etc.
Determine and conduct testing for chemical analysis and reporting
Review, record and maintain test results, device history records and daily work logs
Collect and receive, label, organize and store samples in accordance with all safety and regulatory requirements
Prepare Titration solutions for testing the concentration of dissolved substances
Clean and maintain lab equipment, and perform calibrations per instructions
Stay proficient on technical and regulatory specifications
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent with 1 year experience working in a lab environment; preferably versed in chemistry, chemical technology, or applied sciences
Detail oriented with exceptional organizational skills
Proficient using electronic/ computerized lab equipment
Proven ability to work independently and with minimal supervision
Ability to work as part of a cohesive team under the direction of supervision
Capable of troubleshooting and resolving lab equipment issues
Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time
Capacity to work 12-hour shifts on a Pitman schedule (3-2-2-3) and flex work schedules when the need arises
Skilled at reading, writing, and speaking the English language.
Competent using a computer and Microsoft Office Suite applications
Proven ability to analyze, interpret, and effectively communicate lab test results
